Every well-built home starts with a strong foundation and that foundation relies on proper site and pad preparation. Experience matters. Arguably, the most critical step in constructing a new home is dirk work and site preparation by a seasoned professional. Proper excavating, filling, leveling, and compacting of your house pad during new construction is essential to the stability and durability of your home’s foundation. Neglecting this important step can lead to serious and costly problems down the road.
This is one area where employing a professional from Southern Dirt & Land pays off! Proper house pad site preparation means that you can rest easy, knowing you won’t be facing improper settling or grading issues that can lead to future problems with your home’s foundation.
What can you expect from house pad site preparation with Southern Dirt & Land? Typically, a site inspection and initial consultation will begin the process. Here, your local house pad contractor will view the blueprints or site plans, examine soil reports, stake measurements, and develop a dirt work plan. Knowing the quality and type of your soil is crucial, as different soils bear weight differently, affecting the stability of your pad. If necessary, your Southern Dirt work contractor will begin by excavating or scraping the land to clear it of any vegetation, tree stumps, large rocks, roots, and other debris that could compromise the compaction of the site. Then fill dirt is brought in, most often made of a mixture of soil and sand, to fill in low spots and to reach the proper building pad elevation. The real dirty work gets going here, which involves grading and leveling the fill dirt to allow for proper drainage and to even out soil density throughout the house pad area. Compacting a house pad is another crucial component of a solid house pad. A layer of gravel or crushed stone may be installed and compacted as well. The thickness of this layer will vary depending on the type of soil on your property, the compaction rate, and the size/weight of your house or mobile home. Now the house pad site is properly prepped for foundation installation! This home pad construction process is essential in ensuring that your pad is able to support the weight of your house or mobile home for years to come.
Before a mobile home can be placed on a property, a manufactured home pad is often constructed to provide a level and supportive surface for the home to rest on. Why do you need a manufactured home foundation base pad? Many financing options require specific pad foundations in order for you to qualify for mobile home financing. Besides, it’s just a really great idea to have a quality mobile home pad constructed for the durability and stability of your home. Manufactured house pads also reduce water collection and moisture problems under your home.
The construction of a mobile home pad requires careful site preparation and the use of quality materials. The process of mobile home pad site preparation is similar to home pad construction. The area where the pad will be located must be cleared of vegetation and any large rocks or roots that could interfere with the pad’s foundation. Next, fill dirt is added and compacted to prevent settlement. Once the compacted soil is in place, a layer of gravel may be added to promote drainage and stability. With proper building techniques, a mobile home pad can provide decades of support.

We had Teyton clear land, install drains and lay sod at our house. We are so happy with the work he did. He was always on time, great communication and did exceptional work. We even added on finishing our driveway because he did such a great job. We would definitely use Southern Dirt again and highly recommend him.

I had Teyton Cloar from southerndirt.net come out and clear brush at the farm today. I couldn't be more happy and satisfied. Will definitely be having him back for more!

Teyton came out to install a French drain at my house recently. He showed up on time and with the proper tools for the job. He completed the job in a timely manner and was fair priced. I was very pleased.

A huge shout out and thank you to Teyton! We had a lot of tree damage in March tornado including one massive 50+ year old tree that fell and ripped up our concrete driveway. The root ball was huge and Teyton and his skid steer successfully got it pulled up and carried off for us. It took a few tries, a chain saw and some chains but he never gave up. He also cleaned up some other fallen trees and logs for us.
He came quickly after I called him and the price was very reasonable. He had previously built us a couple retaining walls. Would definitely recommend him and plan to use him again soon.
